Pain with sex? Vaginal burning? Losing urine? Try MonaLisa Touch.

The "gray tsunami" has hit! Over 60 million women in the USA are menopausal. And of course with menopause comes hot flashes, insomnia, and VAGINAL DRYNESS AND PAIN WITH INTERCOURSE.

There are many treatments for the vaginal dryness and painful intercourse of menopause. Most of them involve taking systemic estrogen or using some type of vaginal preparation daily to several times a week.

MonaLisa Touch® is a medical device that uses fractional CO2 laser technology to treat various gynecological conditions, including vaginal atrophy and mild urinary incontinence. It is important to note that medical information may evolve, and there might be newer developments or variations of the technology by the time of your inquiry.

Here is some general information about MonaLisa Touch®:

  1. Purpose: MonaLisa Touch® is primarily used to address vaginal health issues, such as vaginal dryness, discomfort during intercourse, itching, burning, and urinary incontinence that can arise due to a decline in estrogen levels, commonly associated with menopause.

  2. Procedure: The treatment is non-surgical and typically performed by a gynecologist or a specially trained medical professional. During the procedure, a small probe is inserted into the vagina, which emits fractional CO2 laser energy into the vaginal tissues. This stimulates collagen production and promotes healthier vaginal tissue.

  3. Treatment Sessions: A typical course of treatment usually involves three to four sessions, spaced about 4-6 weeks apart. However, the exact number of sessions required may vary depending on the patient's specific condition and response to treatment.

  4. Duration of Procedure: The procedure itself is relatively quick, usually taking less than 10 minutes to complete.

  5. Anesthesia and Pain: In most cases, anesthesia is not required, as the procedure is relatively painless. Some patients may experience mild discomfort or a slight warming sensation during the treatment.

  6. Recovery and Downtime: MonaLisa Touch® is a minimally invasive treatment, and patients can typically resume their regular activities immediately after the procedure. There is usually no downtime required.

  7. Results: Many patients report improvement in their symptoms after the completion of the treatment sessions. However, individual results may vary, and some patients may require maintenance treatments to sustain the effects over time.

  8. Risks and Side Effects: MonaLisa Touch® is considered a safe procedure with minimal risks. Potential side effects are generally mild and may include slight redness, swelling, or a temporary increase in vaginal discharge. Serious complications are rare.

As with any medical treatment, it's crucial to consult with a qualified healthcare professional to determine if MonaLisa Touch® is appropriate for your specific health needs and conditions. They can evaluate your medical history, perform a thorough examination, and discuss potential risks and benefits to make an informed decision about the treatment.
